Deep Center is now accepting applications for Writings Fellows for the Young Author Project. The Young Author Project is Deep’s introductory program, that engages public middle and high school students with language and their stories to help them grow as learners, celebrate their lives and communities, and express themselves with skill, confidence, and courage. Selected authors are selected by a teacher at their school based on demonstrated need, enthusiasm, and dedication. Each workshop is facilitated by two Writing Fellows: local artists, writers, and mentors who undertake a semester-long commitment (12 weeks) to lead one session per week at one of the 14 middle or high schools where The Young Author Project is located.

Mandatory training for our Writing Fellows will be held Saturday, September 14th & Sunday, September 15th. Programming for the Fall Semester begins Monday, September 16th.

Writing fellows both past and present have spoken about the “why” behind their commitment to the young people present in The Young Author Project. You can read more about that commitment here: http://tinyurl.com/4kbktnuw.
